* Please do not stress with the math homework or this topic. Time is new to the kids. No test for this topic. Just want to teach the topic since it is important. We will continue to work on it.

Classroom News:
* The bridge projects were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Each child got to present their masterpieces and tell about their bridge!  To the people that chose to "create" a bridge... WOWIE! WOW! WOW! We needed a bigger classroom for all the displays! Well done! I took pictures as each child presents their project. I will send them once they are all finished!
* Each child voted for their favorite NBA team to win the championship when the NBA play-offs first started. We have a bulletin board of each round. Avianna Cocozza is the only one in the running! She chose the Denver Nuggets, nobody chose the Miami Heat! Good luck to Avianna heading into the championship series!
* Script- After a few weeks of script being optional we are now moving into script only. Please continue to work on the art of script at home if you feel your child is having a tough time. We have a script workbook in class that we started using since the beginning of the year. We will continue to work in it.

* Each child presented their SS Culture project to the class. They did an amazing job! We learned a lot about each other's culture! The projects were FABULOUS!

* MAP testing will continue this week. Your child's attendance is important this week. Being on time for school is extremely important for your child and those around them. Last week the Math and Language Arts components were completed. This week we will complete the Science and Reading components.

IMPORTANT-    
If your child missed any of the 4 MAP components there will be make-ups. Mrs Mincher will take some children starting tomorrow to make up any parts missed. They may miss classwork completed in class while they are out. 
We completed the reading component yesterday and the science component today. We are officially done!

1. Math- Choose ONE IXL on topics- time or word problems.
If those topics are complete then I suggest money or do one of your choice.

2. Spelling- Choose any 10 spelling words and put them into complete sentences. 
* Each sentence should have 6 or more words, a capital letter to begin the sentence, and proper punctuation.

3. Reading- Listen, read, and quiz for one story on Raz Kids due by Friday 5/26 at 8:00 am 

4. Social Studies- Chapter 4 Lesson 1 worksheet

Important:
Reading and Math MAP components were made up today by some children that missed those parts. Your child may have missed classwork during the MAP make-up session.

Study all highlighted information, charts, and questions. The test will have 20 multiple choice, matching columns, fill-in-the-blank, and short responses.

* Religion- Final on Wednesday 6/7
We completed 3 final reviews together in class so far. They are stapled in the orange notebook. We will be completing more in the upcoming week. An outline will be given out.

Parents-
Last week and this week script is OPTIONAL in school and for homework. The children are encouraged to try to incorporate script throughout the day. We will change over the last few weeks of school to script only throughout the day and for homework. All lowercase letters and capital letters have been covered as well as many words have been completed in their script handwriting book. We will continue to work on the craft of script. Over time it will get easier.

IMPORTANT-

Parents, 
Students may use erasable pens for all subjects EXCEPT for Math. Pen can be used in the classroom, for homework, and projects.  Always use a pencil in Math! All students should have 2 erasable pens (black or blue) by now. Erasable pens were included on the beginning of school supply list. It has been on the homework site all week. The kids are just getting used to writing in pen! How exciting!! No "clicking pens" please! They will be sent home since it disrupts valuable learning time.

* The following students spent 1 hour (or more) practicing their math or reading skills on IXL this weekend. I admire those students that took time out of their weekend to study! Each student received an award, 5 cents in their classroom wallet, and a homework pass!

Alyssa was the winner with a total of 12 hours 46 minutes on IXL this long weekend (from Thursday to Sunday)! Wowie! Wow! Wow!

* Since implementing IXL (only a few months ago) the class has completed a total of 55,562 questions and logged a total of 228 hours of learning time between home and school! Impressive!!
